Privacy Policy
Caliq is built around a simple principle: your calendar data should work for you, not for advertisers or data brokers. This Privacy Policy explains what information Caliq processes, how it is used, the legal basis for that processing, when data may be shared with service providers, how long data is retained, and what rights you have under applicable privacy law.

1. Privacy at a Glance
- No ads. Caliq does not display advertising.
- No tracking. Caliq does not profile you for advertising or sell your data.
- On-device by default. Core calendar and note data stays on your device and in your device-account sync service unless you explicitly use optional server-powered features.
- Minimal retention. Submitted server-processing payloads are processed to return a result and are not retained longer than necessary for security, abuse prevention, and legal compliance.
2. Contact and Privacy Requests
If you have privacy questions, requests, or complaints, please use the contact page. Caliq will review and respond in line with applicable privacy law.
3. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the Caliq app, related APIs and backend services, support interactions, and this website. It does not apply to third-party services that Caliq integrates with, such as device-platform services, connected calendar or account providers, weather or mapping services, or other external providers, which are governed by their own privacy policies.
4. Information Caliq Processes
a. Information you provide
Caliq may process text you type or import into the app, including notes, calendar prompts, screenshots, or support messages. If you contact support, Caliq may also process the information you choose to include in your message and any related metadata needed to respond.
b. Calendar and schedule data
Caliq can access calendar events, reminders, and related scheduling data only with your permission. This data is used to create events, detect conflicts, calculate availability, generate summaries, and support widgets and timelines.
c. Technical and account-related data
Caliq may process limited technical information needed to operate the service securely, such as subscription status, product identifiers, request metadata, integrity or authentication tokens used to secure API calls, and system-generated logs for debugging, abuse prevention, or service reliability.
d. Location, weather, and place-search data
If you enable weather or location-based features, Caliq may process your device location, saved weather locations, location search queries, selected places, and related coordinates. This information is used to return forecasts, weather alerts, place suggestions, map results, and event-location context.
5. How Caliq Uses Information
Caliq uses personal data only to provide and improve the service, including to:
- Create, import, and manage events, reminders, notes, and schedule data.
- Sync your data through your device-account sync service when you choose to use sync-enabled features.
- Request forecasts, current conditions, weather alerts, and required attribution assets through third-party weather data services.
- Provide place autocomplete, place resolution, and related map lookups through third-party mapping and location services when you use location features.
- Provide optional server-based parsing, summaries, weather enrichment, or related intelligent features.
- Authenticate requests, prevent abuse, maintain security, and troubleshoot service issues.
- Process subscriptions, restore purchases, and verify entitlement status.
- Respond to support requests and comply with legal obligations.
6. Legal Bases for Processing
For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions requiring a lawful basis, Caliq relies on the following legal grounds:
- Performance of a contract: to provide the app, subscription features, sync, parsing, and account functionality you request.
- Legitimate interests: to secure the service, prevent misuse, improve reliability, and respond to support issues.
- Consent: where required, including when you explicitly choose optional features such as server-based processing or grant device permissions.
- Legal obligation: where processing is necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or lawful requests.
7. On-Device Processing and Account-Based Sync
Where possible, Caliq processes calendar and note content locally on your device. Data that you store in the app may also sync through your device-account cloud sync service, platform database services, and related account infrastructure if you enable those features. Caliq does not operate its own general-purpose cloud storage for core calendar content, and third-party sync is governed by the relevant provider's own terms and privacy documentation.
8. Optional Server-Based Processing
Some features may use server-side infrastructure to provide more capable parsing, imports, summaries, or reliability than is possible fully on-device. When you choose to use these features, the specific input you submit for processing may be transmitted to Caliq's backend and subprocessors solely to generate a result.
Server-side processing may involve:
- Temporary handling of your submitted text or imported content.
- Security checks, rate limiting, or request validation.
- Routing through security, content-delivery, hosting, or model-processing subprocessors where applicable.
Caliq does not use submitted content for advertising or user profiling and aims to avoid retaining request content longer than operationally necessary.
9. Third-Party Services and Processors
Depending on which features you use, Caliq may rely on third-party services that process limited personal data on its behalf or at your direction, including:
- Platform and account infrastructure providers: app marketplace billing, device calendar and reminder frameworks, account-based sync, weather data, and mapping or place-search functionality.
- Security and infrastructure subprocessors: network security, request routing, caching, abuse prevention, hosting, and service reliability for server endpoints.
- Model-processing subprocessors: optional parsing or language-processing tasks for server-powered features.
- Connected calendar and account providers: external calendar services, enterprise account providers, CalDAV-compatible services, and ICS-based feeds that you choose to connect or import.
When you use weather or location-search features, relevant search terms, selected places, coordinates, and approximate or precise location data may be sent to the applicable weather, mapping, geolocation, or platform provider to fulfill your request. Some providers require attribution, legal notices, or source references for weather, map, or place content, and Caliq displays those notices in-product where applicable.
These providers operate under their own privacy terms, and Caliq shares only the data reasonably necessary to deliver the feature you requested.
10. Data Retention
Caliq retains personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the service, maintain security, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.
- Calendar content and notes stored on-device remain under your control and may persist until you delete them or remove the app.
- Data synced through your device-account cloud sync service is retained according to your account and device settings.
- Support emails may be retained as needed to resolve your inquiry and maintain support records.
- Limited technical logs may be retained for security, debugging, fraud prevention, and compliance.
11. International Data Transfers
If you use optional server-powered features, your data may be processed outside your country of residence, including in countries that may not provide the same level of legal protection as your home jurisdiction. Where required, Caliq relies on appropriate safeguards such as contractual protections or provider commitments designed to support lawful international transfers.
12. Security Measures
Caliq uses reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data, including transport encryption, secure token handling, platform security features provided by your device ecosystem, and service-provider protections designed to prevent unauthorized access, misuse, or disclosure. No system is completely secure, and you use the service at your own risk.
13. Children's Privacy
Caliq is not intended for children under 13, and Caliq does not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please use the contact page so the issue can be reviewed.
14. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or port your personal data, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Because much of Caliq's core data stays on your device or in your device-account sync service, you can often exercise control directly by editing or deleting content in the app, revoking permissions, disabling sync, or cancelling optional server-powered features. For other requests, please use the contact page.
15. No Advertising or Third-Party Analytics Profiling
Caliq does not use your data for ad targeting, sell personal data, or run behavioral profiling for marketing purposes. This website and app are intended to support product usage and support operations, not advertising networks.
16. Changes to This Policy
Caliq may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If material changes are made, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date and may also be communicated in-app where appropriate.
17. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or want to exercise privacy rights, please use the contact page.
